Pub crawl Fundraiser ends with stabbing

Baltimore,MD-City police said a 24-year-old man was stabbed in South Baltimore’s Riverside neighborhood on Saturday night during a bar crawl. At about 7:15 p.m., police received a call for a stabbing in the 1500 block of Covington St. Officers located a man standing on the corner bleeding heavily from his back, and he was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. Detective Kevin Hagan, a police spokesman, said a group of people were participating in a pub crawl to raise money for a flag football team called the Hitmen. “There was an incident earlier in the evening involving some of the football team members, and later in the evening, two females started more or less attacking the victim,” Hagan said. Hagan said a man known to the group then ran up to the victim and struck him several times. No one saw a knife, but witnesses told police that the blows appeared to be “more a stabbing motion than a punch,” he said. On Sunday, blood was visible on the sidewalk at the corner of Covington Street and Fort Avenue, near a convenience store. The street corner is adjacent to Hogan’s Alley, a bar that is listed as one of the Hitmen’s sponsors on its Facebook page. Hagan said it was unclear whether any arrests had been made.
