Bob Butara at 55 Returns to the GridIron

Willoughby,OH-A Legendary Flag Football QB, Bob Butara returned to the Flag Football Field for the USFTL Referee’s Flag Football Tournament playing for the RIFFS from Greencastle,PA. At 55 Years Old Butara is backon the gridiron playing with his two sons, Tony and Nick.

Butara is a Cleveland native, and became famous when Sports Illustrated ran an article on him in October of 1992, as Old Spice Amateur Athlete of the Month. Butara has a winning record against every touch and Flag Football Team he has faced in his 20-year career. He has completed 74% of 22,857 pass attempts, generating 2,688 touchdowns. His 793 wins (against 101 losses) include one world flag football title, 11 U.S. championships and several dozen city and state crowns.

Butara also won the NFL’s National Air It Out 4Man NO Contact Flag Football Tournament in Orlando,FL in 1995. After winning the NFL tournament, they took on NFL players lead by Cowboys Hall of Fame QB Roger Roger Staubach at Disney Land where the game was televised on ABC. The NFL players won the game 27-18.
