Forty teams competed in the annual Canadian tournament. Fourteen more teams than
last year shows the growth of Flag Football in Canada. This was the first time
in Canada two other countries participated in a flag football tournament(Mexico &
USA). The Mexican women showed vulnerability but still remained undefeated. In 7 Man no
contact the Canadians proved they are dominant by easily defeating FlagMag/USA. The
9 Man Contact exhibition game was a huge success, and several people stuck around and
watched an exciting hard hitting game that went into OT.

Aguilas Blancas of Mexico City proved once again they are unbeatable by going
undefeated in the tournament(4-0) The Mexican Champs played several close games, all
played by Canadian rules.In the Championship game, the Aguilas Blancas defeated the
Geants of St Jean Sur Richeliue 19-13. (Full Summary Tuesday)

1st- MX-#10 Elizabeth Avero Intercepted a pass on own 10 yardline.Mexico scored an
apparent TD, when refs called #15 Lluvia Garza for Jumping. Geants gained possesion on
their own 1 yard line.
2nd- Geants started the scoring on a 70 yard pass to #14 Caroline St.Onge.The 1point
conversion was good. Geants 7-0.
MX countered on a 15 yard TD pass to #9 Angelica Hernandez, conversion failed Geants 7-6.
On the ensuing Kick Off, the Geants Scoring on 70 yard pass(canadian rules) to #7 Julie
Dussault; conversion Failed Geants 13-6. Mexico bounced back with a 30 yard pass to #15
Lluvia Garza, the extra point to #78 Laura Barlena was good 13-13. Mexico's #25 Maritza
Zanora intercepted a pass to end the half.
3rd-No Score
4th- Mexico scored on a 15 yard pass to #44 Mercedes Ramirez, #78 Laura Barlena caught the
extra point Mexico 20-13.

9 Man Exhibition!! World Cup!!!
Contact Flag Football in Canada is unheard of ! This past Saturday night 9 Man made its
mark in Canada as a good crowd watched an exciting game.
FlagMag/USA scored on its first possession on a 15 yard pass to Tony Baker from QB John
Wiggin, late in the 2nd half Canada's Marty Haines Intercepted a pass and returned it for
a td to tie the game. Overtime was the shoot-out method from the 20. On 3rd down from the
5 yard line, FlagMag/USA's Bob Haden intercepted a pass to stop the canadians from
scoring. FlagMag/USA scored the winning score on a unbelievable catch by JulioJubert to
win the game.
