Da Bomb Squad

The previous match up of these two teams was very close andwent into overtime tied at 12-12 and the final was 18-12 for Da Bombsquad. In the H.I.S.A. cup it was pretty much the same story with neither team's offense doing a whole lot. The Bombsquad averaged over 28 points per game during the regular season but were held to only 6 points in th first half from a 3 yd.T.D. pass from back-up quarterback Will Tolentino to wide out Justin Young. The Legend's defense was strong enough to hold the Bombsquad but their offense sputtered and along with some timely penalties the legends were only able toscore 1 touchdown (a 57 yd. reception) by wide receiver Darrel Delatore. The score remained 6-6 until the last 3 seconds were left on the game clock and DaBombsquad was 3rd and goal from the 8 yd. line. If the Legends could hold out for this one last play the game would head into overtime ( no goal posts for field goal attempts). To say the least the tension was high for this last play of regulation time. With lots of pressure QB Will Tolentino was forced to roll left with pursuit right behind him, just when it looked certain that Tolentino was going to have to try to run it in for the win he released a pass that strangely resembled "the catch" by Joe Montana to the back of the endzone where slot receiver Dennis Vasquez dove to the ground a caught the game winning touchdown to give Da Bombsquad the 12-6 victory and allowed for a back to back championship.

Hawaii-Military -Tournament-APRIL 4TH

On a rainy overcast day on Marine Corp base Hawaii, the Force takes the field battling through the weather and many tough teams to try to claim an another championship in Hawaii. Led by Captain and QB Eric Showalter the Force has won numerous tournaments since assembling the team in 1998 under Coach Patrick Nazereno.

The Championship game was a battle between two foes that have battled twice before this year, each winning one game. The first half was a defensive struggle with neither team scoring a single point, with Showalter and Green (Malsek QB) throwing interception on drives inside the 20, the defenses really stepped up and didn’t want to budge.

After a sluggish first half both teams came out with sustaining drives down the field knotting the score at 8-8. The game continued to see saw back and forth with one team scoring and the other team coming right back to even things up

"We couldn’t shake them, they were tough. Every time we scored, they scored they came right back at us with a score of their own. It was a straight up battle. That’s the kind of competition you expect in championship game," said safety James "J-Dub" Walker.

With the game pressing to the final minutes, Malsek made an impressive drive down the field and punched in a touchdown to tie the score at 20-20. The score put Malsek tem into position to break the tie with a two-point conversion, and with forty seconds remaining, they scored a game deciding conversion to put them up 22-20.

The clutch scoring drive by Malsek left the Force offense with less than 30 seconds to construct a game winning scoring drive. The Malsek defense remained tough and put the Force offense in a forth down situation with only 6 seconds remaining. With one final play and 30 yards to make up, Eric "Bucky" Showalter connected with his favorite receiver once again; Anthony "Ant" Myric for the game-winning touchdown as time expired.

"You dream about making catches like this," said an ecstatic Myric after the game. They (Malsek) were a tough team and we have a lot of respect for them. Tonight was just our night." The players of both squads capped off he tournament with a trophy exchange ceremony following the game. That gives the Force there 2nd championship in the last 2 years and a total combined record of 24-3 since the team assembled in 1998.
