Raleigh, NC-World Cup Qualifier
The International Flag Football Federation held their fourth World
Cup qualifing event for the 2004 season this past weekend in
Raleigh,NC. Teams as far as Texas traveled to the tournament.
Several teams are traveling early this years in hopes of qualifing
for the 6th Annual World Cup Extravaganza which will be held in
the USA for the first time in 3 years. Only 80 teams will be
allowed to participate in the Open Inviational tournament which
will be played in February Fri,Sat and Sunday at a date and
location to be announced in July. Guatemala’s Vicky Mendizabal who
is currently in the USA assisiting with the tournaments
states"having the World Cup in the USA makes it more appealing and
affordable for International teams. I know my team from Guatemala
and Panama will be present for Womens teams this year"
In the 7Man No Contact Championship it was a shootout as hometown
favorites Blincos edged out the Scatbacks of McAllen TX 44-41 for
the Title. The Scatbacks traveled over 1500 miles to qualify for
the World Cup Invitational Tournament.
The Scatbacks brought a quick and explosive team to Raleigh, NC
for the 2004 World Cup tour stop. Their competitor in the
championship game was Blinco's Sports Bar from Raleigh, NC.
Blinco's received the ball first and worked the ball down the
field quickly to a first and goal but the Scatbacks stopped
Blinco's on 4th and goal. The Scatbacks drove the ball down the
field with their double quarterback schemes and with their
elusiveness. They scored on a dump (don't know the player's name
#1, we just called him hips) and an impressive run to go up 7-0.
From that point on neither team could stop the other but the
Scatbacks held the advantage on extra points 21-19. The Scatbacks
were going in for what looked to be another TD (and they would get
the ball first in the second half) when Blinco's picked off a pass
before halftime. Blinco's took the ball and scored quickly and the
half ended Blinco's 25 Scatbacks 21.
The Scatbacks received the ball first in the second half and
scored in 3 plays to go back ahead 28-25. That would be their last
lead of the game. Blinco's threw a bomb to Jimmy Grissett who
scored 5 TD's in the game to go up 31-28. On the insuing drive,
Leslie Epps of Blinco's intercepted a pass and Blinco's
capitalized and scored to go up 37-28. With time running out the
Scatbacks scored again to make the score 37 to 35. The game was
intense but neither defense could stop the other's offense.
Blinco's and Scatbacks traded scores again to make the score 44-41
but there was still an onsides kick and over a minute left in the
game. It all came down to a 4th and 1 with 53 seconds left.
Blinco's quarterback, Tim Kilpatrick, eluded the rush and ran for
a first down that ended the game.

Buenos Aires,Argentina
Se largó una nueva pretemporada
Comenzó el sábado la pretemporada
2004 de la Liga Argentina de
Flag-Football organizada por la Asociación
Argentina de Football Americano (AAFA), etapa
preparatoria en la que cada uno de
los diez equipos comienzan a
entrar en ritmo de competencia
luego del receso habitual, desde
que terminó la temporada anterior.
En una jornada muy nublada, en la
cual el total de partidos
informales disputados fue de cinco,
los Delfines se presentaron por
primera vez desde que fue
anunciado su ingreso en la Liga, y
lo hicieron con un equipo repleto
de novatos pero con muchas ganas
de aprender y mejorar su nivel. La
pretemporada continuará el próximo
sábado 3 de julio, con otros cinco
enfrentamientos amistosos.
Por su parte, el 17 de julio dará
comienzo la temporada regular de
la novena temporada de
Flag-Football de la AAFA, fundada
en 1996. En ella, cada equipo
disputará un total de 16
encuentros, y al finalizar la
misma los seis conjuntos con
mejores marcas clasificarán a la
postemporada, momento en que se
empieza a definir en un partido
eliminatorio. La Final o Juego de
Campeonato, está prevista para
mediados de diciembre.
Como es habitual, las actividades
de la AAFA se desarrollan en el
terreno de juego con el que cuenta
en exclusividad en el campo de
deportes del Dámaso Centeno,
situado en Zufriategui 5000 (y Av.
Constituyentes), Villa Martelli,

Texas since 1977. While playing in the AFFL they went 2-1 in
championship
games.
A majority of there time has been
spent in the
Contact Flag Football League
where they have won multiple league and regular season titles.
The CFFL runs an 8 game regular season along with playoffs. No
Limit has averaged 7 wins per season and hold the records for most
victories in a row (42), undefeated season (5), fewest points
allowed in a season (18), most points scored in a season (272),
most shutouts in a season (6) and three Texas State Championships.
“Getting the tenth championship was
not an easy task we have been stuck at 9 since the Spring of 2001”
said Terrel LeCesne, Community Relations Officer. “Our chief
rival over that span, Nemesis, has been holding us down beating us
in 3 straight championships
games. This season we had to defeat them 3 times to secure a
10-0 record and our 10th championship.”
“It wasn’t really that tough keeping
the team together through our championship drought everyone knew
we were due, it was just a matter of time. Now it is time to work
on the second 10 and make an impact on the National Championship
level.” Dexter Bailey LB\Head Coach.

Portsmouth,England-World Cup Qualifier
Fifteen Teams from three countries took part in the years first
international World Cup Qualifier. Teams from England, France and
the USA all participated in the International Flag Football
Federations tournament, which offered 5man No Contact on Saturday
and 9Man Ineligible format on Sunday.
Team USA only comprised of nine committed players from all over
the USA, some traveling as far as 6000 miles. The Tour is a part
of an educational process to help the international teams properly
prepare for the World Cup tournament slated for the USA in Feb of
2005.
All Nine players on Team USA’s squad had played for Team USA at
this past years World Cup Event in the Dominican. Team USA won the
5man No Contact and 9Man Ineligible titles at the English
Challenge by defeating Team France in both Championship
games. In the 5man No contact Saturday contest, Team USA went
5-0 on the day. In the Championship game Team USA defeated France
28-13 for the win. QB & MVP Pat Connolly connected with Adam
Desanctis for two scores and one each to James Mayo and Mike Hawff
to round out the scoring.Team USA struggled a bit with the Derby
Dream Team, as the Dream Team was winning at halftime 7-6. The
Dream Team was playing with mostly offensive lineman but played a
strong zone defense with Team England players Butch Ebo, Austin
Bradshaw and JP to keep the Americans in check for the first half.
In the Second half Team USA scored three touchdowns for the win,
two from Brian Backman and one from James Mayo.
Team France was no match for the English Squads, as shifty QB
Flavien Charles, who consistently avoided the rush and threw some
nice Touchdown passes to his key receiver Eric Pierre.
In 9Man Ineligible action it was all USA dominance as the team
went 4-0 only giving up 12 points. Team USA was short handed, so
they picked up two French Players Albin Notteau and Carole
D'attoma. Albin played a solid offensive line, while Carole was a
standout on offense as she scored five touchdowns and four extra
tries. Adam Desanctis scored six touchdowns as he was awarded MVP
Honors. In the Championship game, Desanctis started off the
scoring on a 60 yard scamper, Jim Zimolka then caught a 15 yard
pass to give the USA a comfortable 13-0 led, before France scored
on a 10 yard pass from QB Flavien Charles to WR- Eric Pierre. The
games final score came on Adam’s 60 yard Touch down jaunt.
