Regional Tournaments Rules Changes

USFTL Changes

8 Man - Contact:

  • 3 Lineman are ineligible
  • 16 men rosters
  • Round robin
7 Man - No Contact:
  • 5 yard rush
  • 16 men rosters
  • Round robin
4 Man - No Contact:
  • 2 halves (12 minutes each)
  • Interceptions can be returned
  • 6 men rosters
  • Double elimination

NFL Flag Changes

4 Man:

  • 2 halves (12 minutes each)
  • Clock stops inside 1 minute warning when out of bounds, touchdowns, change of possession
All Divisions:
  • Mercy rule: any team winning by 28 points or more, will immediately be declared the winner.

NIRSA Changes

All Divisions:

  • 5 yard rush
  • No screen blocking

Flag Regulations

Flags will NOT be supplied for teams. Flag Football Magazine is the official sponsor of World Cup Flag Football and the "Sonic Boom Flags Belt" is the exclusive flag worn at all World Cup events. Flag belts can be purchased for U$S 59.95 p/dozen (12) by calling (603) 437-0108 or visiting http://www.flagmag.com/store.html. Flag belts can be purchased in smaller quantities at each tournament site too.

Field Regulations

8 & 7 Man:

  • 40 x 80 yards
  • 10 yard endzones
4 Man:
  • 25 x 60 yards
  • 7 yard endzones

Format

  • Double elimination brackets
  • 2 halves (18 minutes each)
  • Clock stops in last 2 minutes
  • Average game time is 1 hr. 15 min. running time

Regional Captain's Meeting

  • Blind draw
  • Captains CHOOSE place on bracket

Regional Points System

1st = 1500 pts.
2nd = 1000 pts.
3rd = 800 pts.
4th = 700 pts.
5th = 600 pts.
6th = 500 pts.
7th = 400 pts.
8th = 300 pts.
9th = 200 pts.
10th = 100 pts.

World Cup Captain's Meeting

  • Teams ranked by TOTAL points earned (can play in more than one Regional and this could help earning better bracket placement at World Cup)
  • Bracket placement based on points
